Jimmy Harris served as the Mayor of Madison County for 15 years, till 2022. During that time he was elected 4 times and Madison County experienced enormous economic growth, adding more than 11,000 jobs and seeing the investment of more than 3 billion dollars from industry.

Jimmy is a lifelong Republican and is currently serving on the Executive Committee of both the Tennessee Republican Party and Madison County Republican Party. He has served on many local boards including the Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce, West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees, the Industrial Development Board, the McKellar-Sipes Airport Authority, and served as chairman for the Tennessee Association of County Mayors.

Jimmy led the creation of the Veterans Service Office for District 73.

Decades of business success have brought Jimmy through many experiences owning and operating a business including an ice cream parlor, a funeral home, trailer manufacturing, food service, and most recently real estate development.

Jimmy grew up on a farm in Henderson County. He is a graduate of Lexington High School and the University of Memphis. He is married to Loni, and has three children and three grandchildren. He and Loni are members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
